John Paul II and Divine Mercy Sunday

Today is the Second Sunday of Easter and Divine Mercy Sunday. At Mass this morning, our priest pointed out that Pope John Paul was on the Seat of Peter at the time of the Beatification and Canonization of Sister Faustina. At her Canonization in April 2000, he directed that the Second Sunday of Easter would henceforth be celebrated as Divine Mercy Sunday.

Another fact that our priest pointed out was that Saint Thomas, after his insistence on seeing the wounds of the Risen Christ, became a missionary and was the first to travel to India to preach the Gospel of Christ. Thomas the Apostle has become known as "Doubting" Thomas, but if you take a close look at the scripture, you see that he didn’t so much doubt as demand proof. So maybe we should call him "Scientist" Thomas.
